The Oklahoma City author has written\u00a0four books about Oklahoma women; <em>Buckskin, Calico, and Lace: Oklahoma\u2019s Territorial Women; Petticoats, Politics and Pirouettes: Oklahoma Women from 1900 to 1950; Astronauts, Athletes, and Ambassadors: Oklahoma Women from 1950 to 2007,<\/em> and co-authored with Bob Burke, <em>Kate Bernard, Oklahoma\u2019s Good Angel.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A former newspaper columnist for <em>The Daily Oklahoman<\/em> and <em>The Midwest City Sun<\/em>, her articles have appeared in <em>Oklahoma Today, The Journal of the Western Outlaw History Association, Women\u2019s Front Page News<\/em>, and The <em>Capitol Hill Beacon.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As an entertainer, Glenda is familiar to audiences across the state, as in period costume she brings to life the exciting stories of Oklahoma women. She was recognized for her knowledge and presentations on Oklahoma women when in 1996, she received an award for the promotion of Oklahoma history from the American Association for State and Local History.<\/p>\n<p>Married to an osteopathic physician, Glenda and her husband, Tom, have\u00a0three daughters and five grandchildren. She is past national president of the Auxiliary to the American Osteopathic Association.<\/p>\n<p>She recently retired as the executive director for the Oklahoma Center for the Book, an outreach center of the Library of Congress located in the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. The Center\u2019s mission is to promote Oklahoma authors, the state\u2019s literary heritage, and reading for all.
